How do I get through a bad week without reinventing myself?
How do I get through a bad week without reinventing myself?
Shrink the list, keep one routine, and eat and sleep like a person who intends to still be here on Monday. A bad week is a weather system. It does not need a new personality.
What may actually be happening
Reinvention is attractive because it skips the ordinary repair. The week is hard because of load, loss, or a mistake. Those respond to smaller days, not to a manifesto.
What you can do
Cut tomorrow to three necessary things. Keep one anchor: a walk, a meal, a start-of-day task. Tell one person the week is heavy if that person is safe. Postpone optional performances.
What not to do
Do not stack a self-improvement program on top of exhaustion. Do not narrate one bad stretch as the story of your life. Do not refuse help because you have not suffered elegantly enough.
When you may need more help
If you cannot function, if you feel hopeless, or if you are thinking about harming yourself, contact local emergency or crisis support. Rest advice is not care for a crisis.
